- kathryn williams and neill maccoll – two [folk] [myspace]
kathryn is my all time favourite. i own some cd of hers. i like her style; simple, quiet and harmonic folk.
this one she plays with neill maccoll. i have no idea who the guy is (lazy to google now, so do you job) but his voice resembles mark kozelek (red house painters frontman) to me.
i think the two is a perfect match. both sings in a mellow manner. very pleasing
my current favourite song is “innocent when you dream”

^ i don’t like “two” album artwork at all ._.

- mahasmut bunyaraksh – little fox [folk] [myspace]
mahasmut is a thai actor/singer who finished his study in the uk. he also plays in another local indie rock band called ”saliva bastards“. this is the solo project of him which is the second release of his folk full-length album.
i love his work and have been listening unstoppably to this album for a week or so. thanks to fat radio that let me hear his single “old” which leaves me yearning to hear more of his album.
songs i like on “little fox” album include “soi cowboy” (it makes me smile), “singing in bars”, “แก่ลงอยู่ทุกวัน (old)”, “ดวงจันทร์น้อยใจ (moon)” and “road”.
the music instruments he mainly used contain acoustic guitar and mouth organ. his slogan is that he sings like the drunkard! as for the cd artwork, i think it is a gypsy look and i think of devendra banhart
my first impression about mahasmut is his short interview on cable tv i saw long time ago. he was explaining how he adores “elliott smith” and i was like … wowowoow! we got thai actor who likes elliott! yayyy! at that time i didnt know who he was though. but i already gave him kudos since he was the first thai who stated “elliott smith” name on tv! : )
notice: i was looking for his cd at gram shop, paragon yesterday, couldn’t find it. and doremee shop doesn’t have it either; she claimed many came to ask for the cd too and she didn’t even know that he released new album.. so hello so::on dry flower, spread your distro, will you??
can’t find the link of ”little fox” cd artwork on the net, so look how he is like instead

- tokyo police club – elephant shell [indie rock] [myspace]
this first full-length album of them is fun and very enjoyable. i like it alot. somehow, i think there is a similarity of death cab for cutie somewhere on the album. maybe it’s the singing style or its music whatsoever. do you agree?
what i dislike is that i cannot distinguish much of the songs. i do have some certain songs i like but whenever i listen to the album thoroughly, all songs sound pretty much the same to me =.= anyhow, i still recommend you to listen to this album. it’s gooood
fave songs = “tessellate”, “juno”, ” listen to the math”, “centennial” and “the harrowing adventures of….”

i am fed up right now. just because i was getting banned from someone on slsk.
it is not that i pissed off because i can’t get the files anywhere else.
but i have a silly belief that people who like folk songs are likely to be sweet inside and soft-hearted.
so i was wrong.
i even pm-ed him/her to ask why i am getting banned. (see, im being rational :->)
” i need a good reason before feeling bad with people who also like duffy and simone white“
….. and nothing replied.
bleh
okay, apart from that boring bit. my arms got sunburnt. this is the second time i get this. so i am thinking of changing new sunblock, any suggestion? i’m unsure if it is the allergy of my own skins to sunburnt or because of the sunblock i used -.-
you may now start wondering where was i to suffer from sunburnt.. yesterday was chengmeng worship day so.
after that we went to bangsaan beach. FYI it was horribly dirty that day :-/
somehow the day ended with good family dinner at bali garden (around bangna area) the restaurant slogan is “to eat with trees” (กินข้าวกับต้นไม้) –cute eh? very! : )
it got romantic atmosphere, lots of beautiful trees and yummy food. they have acoustic guitar live show played by one man show which is a young female looking like tomboy with sweet voice. i must confess that i first thought she was a man >< well, her guitar playing was very impressive too!
i myself want to be good at guitar playing like that one day. and you know, i never seem to start training it for real.. for once. when listening to female folk songs, i always imagine myself playing and singing like her.. keep dreaming and never start doing it. niiice done, heang!
im a loser babyyyy
*while writing this post, music on my winamp is jaymay and laura marling — i wish i could play them both at the same instant like when tom cruise asks penelope to play jeff buckley and vikki carr simultaneously in the “vanilla sky” film
